The Genomic Privacy Project

Work in the Data Privacy Lab on Genomic (genetic and DNA) privacy has sought answers to the following questions:

  1. Suppose you have sequenced DNA for a population. How can the DNA sequences be re-identified to the people who are the subjects of the DNA?

  2. What are good and bad privacy practices for sharing DNA sequences?
    Answers: see Evaluation of the Current State of Genomic Data Privacy Protection Technology and How (not) to protect genomic data privacy in a distributed network.

  3. What are methods for sharing DNA information with provable guarantees of privacy protection?
    Answers: work in progress!
