Poems Written by Latanya Sweeney

Down

My heart drops
through the deep, dark,
bottomless pit,
beating so heavy,
travelling so fast.

I sink, stumble, and weaken,
collapsing inside down.
The torment of my ages
wrap me in a timeless cocoon,
where only darkness and hurt
embrace me.

My throbbing chest,
jumping with agony
and screeching pain,
echoes to be free.
Hold me. Grab me. Hug me.
Someone save me from me.
