Email Social Network Project

Objective

The objective of this project is to use co-locations of email addresses on a web page to draw inferences about the social relations of people. Ironically, we believe in constructing this project many false relations will be found. Understanding how linkages between people can lead to false, as well as truthful relations, is important in the way surveillance work is performed. The commonly called "connecting the dots" approach can lead to serious problems (especially false positives). In this project, we look to provide some examples.

This project builds on prior work in the Data Privacy Lab.
